It's nice not to have the pressure of trying to speak Spanish, and be able to brush our teeth with the tap water, and flush our toilet paper in the toilet rather than throw it in the garbage can. It was sure a great visit with the Mitchells, one we will always remember. They packed us an amazing care package for the drive, complete with games and magazines and candy for the kids! We really enjoyed the sliced mango and the cactus fruit called "tuna" in Spanish.
This is just a short note before going to bed. We've been on the road since 4:30 this morning when we left Mexico City. Sixteen and a half hours later we're in McAllen, Texas at a comfortable hotel. I'm very much looking forward to jumping in my bath water that's waiting for me. (We don't have internet in our room, but Curtis is going to the lobby to put this on the blog for me.) We had wanted to be in San Antonio tonight but the drive took a lot longer than we planned, which doesn't surprise us too much. Tomorrow we'll have breakfast here at the hotel, then drive 3-4 hours to San Antonio, visit the Vision Forum store, the Alamo and the river walk, then drive 6 hours to Midland to see our Texan family! We're so excited! Hopefully I'll have more time (more energy) to write more in the next couple of days and add some pictures. Hope you all are having a happy August. We've been away for two whole weeks now. Talk to you later.
